Faith Over Fear – Where’d You Go?

Over the next few weeks in this series “Faith Over Fear”, I will be speaking about recent times in my life when I’ve had to trust in God that He would provide and not let me fail in the things He has told me. No matter what I thought, I had to throw that away and trust in His timing alone.

Noticing Something

Hello! It’s been a tad longer than I had expected to continue this series. I was on vacation and had gotten the well known corona virus. My experience was essentially feeling like I had a sinus infection and sleeping a ton. It wasn’t super bad for me, just another virus. My health is back to where it typically is.

Through this experience, I’ve noticed something…my relationship with God is lacking. This isn’t something I am happy to share with y’all. I want to be completely honest and share where I am. I kind of left my Father hanging and I am thankful to be noticing that now! I have tried something new and I gotta tell you, I actually love it!!

Mornings

I don’t know about you, but I love the mornings. They are the beginning to a fantastic new day and are just so refreshing. They are great for getting those must-dos crossed off of your To-Do List before those pesky distractions start appearing throughout the day. I have always been an early riser and love starting my days with energy and giving thanks.

This past Wednesday morning, I started doing a bible study to kick-off my morning! It was honestly the best decision I have ever made. It catapulted into being a fresh restart for my morning routine. In the bible it says that we need to seek the kingdom of God first and I haven’t been doing that. Even though I have been failing in that part, God still accepted me with arms wide open.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33 NIV

Trying New Things

The newest part of this bible study for me was listening to a YouTube video to help me study the Word of God. I have never done this. I typically just read the bible without going super deep. If something hits me that’s cool. But with following along with a YouTube video instead this time, changed everything. I was able to comprehend what I was reading in a completely different way and was more interested in what I was reading.

The book I decided to start off with was Ephesians. Super good first chapter so far. It is now Friday and I am still working on the first chapter. It keeps hitting me everyday as I read through it and dive into another verse or two. Every time something hits me, I highlight it in my bible and then go on a deep scholarly search to get the true meaning of the scripture. I write down the verse on a notecard and write any information that I learn when breaking the verse down. That notecard then goes on my wall and I can look at it whenever I need to.

Below is the first group of verses that spoke so much to me. Out of this scripture I took away:

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will– to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

Ephesians 1:4-6 NIV

Out of this scripture I learned:

  • He loves us so much.
  • We were already thought of before we were born.
  • Holy- different and distinct from everything in common
  • Blameless- without blemish, faultless
  • Predestined- He chose us
  • Sonship- relationship w/ our Father
  • Glorious Grace- His love and unmerited favor that God gave us by sending His one and only son to die on a cross

This is just the start of me growing closer to God in my current season and I couldn’t be more excited for what He is going to teach me right now. It was weird picking up my bible and learning again because I felt alone and lacked the confidence in knowing that this is what I needed to do. Even when we may drift away, God is ready and waiting for us. We are His children and He loves us so much.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure to like, comment, and follow! I will be continuing this little series on sharing my own situations that I had to be faithful in and not fearful in. Until next time, enjoy the day God’s way 🙂
